There is no doubt that driving is a vital added value. Once you have learned, manage your driving license and be in good standing.
It is important for you to know that in Quebec there are at least eight types of driving licenses. Now we will let you know them so that you can determine the process that corresponds to you.
This authorization is the highest ranking, it gives you the right to drive various weights of heavy vehicles, such as a tractor of about 4,500 kg or more, equipped with a fifth wheel.
It also allows you to drive trailers or semi-trailers. With such a driving license you can transport loads of equipment, tools or accessories weighing 2,000 kg or more.
If you have a Class 1 driver’s license, you may also drive any other vehicle, except motorcycles, for which you must apply for a driver’s license of either type 6A, 6B, 6C or 6E, depending on your case.
You may drive a heavy vehicle with an air brake system or a manual transmission. However, if the vehicle exceeds 25 meters, you must apply for a special permit.
The class 2 driver’s license authorizes you to drive a bus with more than 24 passengers. However, it does not allow you to drive cars regulated by the Class 1 driver’s license, or motorcycles.
For motorcycles, as we have already seen, you must manage your class 6A, 6B, 6C or 6E permits.
This driving license does allow you to drive cars equipped with an air brake system or manual transmission.
This driving license authorizes you to drive cars with up to 4500 kg net load.
You may also drive a trailer or semi-trailer with a net mass greater than 2,000 kg but not exceeding 4500 kg.
This license also allows you to drive any other vehicle except those classified with class 1 and class 2 permits and motorcycles.
This type of driving license allows you to be in charge of an ambulance, a fire engine or a police vehicle.
You can also drive a bus with a maximum capacity of 24 passengers. You can drive a scooter or moped, which is also allowed by a class 6D permit; as well as drive a tractor, which is also allowed by a class 8 permit.
With this type of driving license you can drive a bus or mini-bus without exceeding 24 passengers.
With this permit you can also drive a vehicle with 2 or 3 wheels but equipped with an electric motor whose capacity does not exceed 50 cm³ and has an automatic transmission.
You can also drive a car that does not exceed 4500 kg, as well as a two or three-wheeled vehicle equipped with an electric motor that does not exceed cm³ and has an automatic transmission.
This authorization also allows you to drive a tractor.
This driver’s license is one of the most requested. It is the one that guarantees you to drive the usual vehicles, as long as they do not exceed 4,500 kg.
It also guarantees you to drive a cab, or the habitable vehicles that are so useful in the vacations.
This class 5 driving license also authorizes you to drive vehicles equipped with tools, such as those with a built-in work station, or similar.
The Class 5 driver’s license also allows you to drive a socooter or moped (Class 5D), a tractor, which can also be driven with a Class 8 license.
With this permit you can also drive a trailer.
Driving licences of type 6A, 6B and 6C are reserved for various types of motorcycles and similar vehicles.
Type 6D licences are reserved for two-wheeled scooters. Type 6E permits allow you to drive only three-wheeled vehicles.
While the class 8 driving license is for driving tractors.
